"Left Behind"
or left DEAD?

The novel LEFT BEHIND and its sequels leave readers believing that those left behind by the Rapture will face a 7-year Tribulation period.

Readers get the impression they can decide later, instead of putting faith in Christ now—"If I see all the Christians get raptured, then I will believe." But, what if there really isn't a 7-year second-chance following Christ's return?
Jesus says those "left" are DEAD.
Jesus prefaced his words about those "left" by saying they would lose their life (Luke 17:33), and when the disciples asked "where" they would be left, He indicated it would be for the buzzards to eat their bodies (Luke 17:37)

READ JESUS' OWN WORDS:

"Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."

"Where, Lord?" they asked.

He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."

— Luke 17:33-37 New International Version

Notice the context, too. In Luke 17:26-30, Jesus said that "the day the Son of Man is revealed" would be "as it was in the days of Noah" when "the flood came and destroyed them all." Those not 'taken' in Noah's ark were 'left' dead. Jesus added that "the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed."
Yes, I am familiar with the popular interpretations applying certain biblical passages to those "left" by the Rapture facing an antichrist's rule during a coming 7-year tribulation. But I respectfully suggest that we reconsider their meaning in view of Jesus' own words above. - David A. Reed, author
